EFFEKT, an architectural collaborative from Copenhagen, Denmark has been commissioned by ReGen Villages to create a state-of-the-art design off-grid, integrated and resilient eco-village. The first ReGen Villages pilot community is to be developed in Almere in the Netherlands, with 100 homes breaking ground in 2016.

An average family of three will require 639m² to be completely self-sufficient in a ReGen village (in comparison to 8100m² using traditional agriculture).

Too often we take for granted where our water, power and food sources come from.

Not only does this housing development substantially reduce the carbon footprint of its residents, it also creates the sense of community and re connection with nature (two things we have lost through modern society).

I hope this pilot community thrives and we see more of these villages popping up around the globe.
